What does Boleh Bah Filem Kita mean? It’s an excited expression in Sabahan Malay that means We Can Film.

Boleh Bah Filem Kita is aimed at giving local film makers an opportunity to showcase Sabah’s creative talents with local-flavoured eco themed films.

It’s also meant to spur the local film industry and hopes to unearth new, talented producers.

The guidelines for entry into the competition is simple. It’s open to people who live in Borneo, for films shot in Borneo.

The film must be about how people relate to their environment and if it’s not in English, it must have English subtitles.

Being a short film competition, the film should be under 10 minutes long.

Only films shot after 1 January 2010 are eligible. The closing date for entries have been extended, so you now have until 31 August 2013 to polish your film and submit it to Boleh Bah Filem Kita.

Being an eco film competition, the judging panel prefers you save on consumable materials and send submissions via online channels such as YouTube or Vimeo. Upload your film and send the necessary details to submissions at beff.org.my, along with your name, contact number and a description of your film.

If your film is chosen to be screened at the Borneo Eco Film Festival, the organisers will contact you for a screening-quality copy of your film.

Good luck and good film!
