Kota Kinabalu Coral Flyer Zipline between Islands

Coral Flyer Zipline, an exciting activity in Kota Kinabalu, is strung up between Gaya Island and Sapi Island in the TAR Park.

Coral Flyer Zipline stretches across the channel that divides Gaya and Sapi Island and offers 250m of thrilling ziplining that will give you a view of the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park like you’ve never seen it before.

Rope Skills, the Coral Flyer Zipline operator, previously claimed the Coral Flyer the longest island to island zipline in the world, but I think it’s safe to say the over 1,700m long zipline in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro in the Philippines obliterated that claim.

Nevertheless, Coral Flyer remains the longest island to island zipline in Sabah and probably the longest in Borneo.

Not one, but two ziplines stretch across the channel allowing pairs at a time to experience the wonders of almost flying.

Coral Flyer Zipline can, in ideal conditions, allow blazing speeds of up to 65 km/h,  letting you zoom from Gaya Island where it starts, down to Sapi Island where it ends in perfect safety, thanks to high-tech break technology.

Kota Kinabalu Zipline from Island to Island on Coral FlyerA local initiative that employs 20 Sabahans, Coral Flyer is operated under the purview of Rope Skills, a renowned Sabah-based rope rigging and safety company who has a tried-and-tested record of reliable safety, ensuring that you’re in good hands throughout your flight on Coral Flyer.

Knowing that you’re in safe hands allows you to enjoy the thrill of the ride and the beautiful views as you fly down the zipline.

Heading towards Sapi at high speeds, the approaching island will probably be your main focus, but beautiful tropical waters of the marine park is zooming past below, to the left the city’s skyline is visible and to the right the vast South China Sea sprawls out.

Peek back at the disappearing sight of Gaya Island for the full 360º experience, but above all, don’t forget to enjoy the ride.

Of course the pumping adrenaline, wind blowing across your face and the sheer excitement of it all might make you miss some of the sights, but worry not, you can always go on the zipline again to see what you’ve missed.

Coral Flyer Zipline launched on 10 May 2014.
