Description
CYC Laser World is a laser tag game arena in Imago The Mall in KK Times Square, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, which unfortunately doesn’t do justice to this exciting alternative sport.
Laser tag is a game similar to paintball, but without the pain. Instead of shooting paint pellets you shoot harmless radio signals – so there’s no mess and no pain. The radio signals are invisible, but a red laser helps you to aim and, of course, creates that cool laser beam effect.
Each player in laser tag wears a vest with LED targets on the chest, back and shoulders. During the game you aim at these targets. The signal you fire carries information, which identifies you to your target. They will see the name of who shot them on a small screen on the back of their gun. The screen also shows your score and rank amongst those currently playing and how much game time remains.
At CYC Laser World in Imago they have laser tag packs for up to 14 players per game. The LEDs on the packs can change colours to identify teams. The aim is to hit players on the opposing teams, but you can shoot your own team mate… just remember the killer is immediately identified.
At the end of the game you can see the rankings of teams and individual players on the screen at the Point of Sale.
CYC Laser World Tip: The laser tag arena is not particular hot, but you will sweat… like the players before you did. When SabahBah played we smelled like other people’s sweat afterwards as the pack vests isn’t cleaned regularly (maybe this has changed, maybe it hasn’t). To be safe, bring either a spare shirt or something you can put over what you’re wearing before you wear the laser pack. It will save you from smelling like somebody else’s sweat.
SabahBah –
It’s good fun and has a lot more potential, something I will play again.
The arena is a decent size for 4 – 8 people although they have enough packs for 14 people.
Equipment needs attention: the vests are a bit smelly and 1 in our group had a problematic gun.
But definitely recommended.
