Description
The Gaya Street Market takes place every Sunday in the centre of Kota Kinabalu.
The market in the closed-off Gaya Street stretches from in front of the Jesselton Hotel on the one end, all the way through to the KK municipal building on the other.
The market hosts hundreds of not-so-different stalls selling anything you can imagine. There’s the edible, which must surely represent most of Sabah’s sweet and savory treats, and the drinkable, of which some you might recognise, most you might not (finding and trying a purple dragon fruit smoothy is a must).
The rest of the market features items for gardening, hardware, toys, herbs, vegetables, souvenir t-shirts, hats, underwear, fishes, pet foot, puppies, ducks, chickens, live music, freshly ground Sabah coffee, lottery scratch cards, musical instruments, antique china, collectible coins & notes, tubs, mugs, bamboo furniture, arts and crafts, etc., etc., etc.
