Lok Kawi Wildlife Park (Zoo)

Where can you see wild animals in Sabah, Borneo?

The Lok Kawi Wildlife Park (zoo) is a collection of Borneo wildlife and animals from other parts of the world. It’s is a great way to experience some of Sabah’s animals up close, especially as a family.

Although the animals are all in enclosures, sighting them is virtually guaranteed, ensuring that you will get a glimpse of Sabah and Borneo’s most difficult to spot jungle creatures.

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park showcases endangered animals such as the Borneo Pygmy Elephant and Sumatran Rhinos in an effort to raise awareness of their plight.

Other animals include proboscis monkeys, orang utans, gibbons, zebra, ostriches, a variety of birds, including hornbills, a menagerie of lizards in the Snake Park, sun bears, tigers and other smaller cats, and a variety of antelope from across the region.

It’s shameful that wild orangutans are being brought to this place and paraded as entertainment. Conservation efforts in Sabah would be best directed at preserving the natural environment of this critically species than creating zoos.

Iam sure all the animals here are being taken careof in a proper way. I and my family visited this park recently and we did enjoy itu well.
