Description

Sabah Museum in Kota Kinabalu is the state museum that oversees related activities in Sabah.

Sabah Museum was officially launched in 1965 in premises that were just shoplots in Gaya Street.

The Sabah Museum’s foundation collection featured the Woolley Collection that belong Mr. GC Woolley, the executive officer that proposed the Sabah Society that was largely responsible for the original push to set up the museum.

While still located the Sabah Museum expanded quickly and in 1984 it was given the old Government House and State Legislative Assembly buildings, where it can still be found today.

Sabah Museum has the noble mission to display Sabah’s unique heritage and preserve it for future generations.

A worthwhile exhibit, the Sabah Museum gives an interesting and colourful insight into the history of Sabah’s people.

Sabah Museum in Kota Kinabalu is open daily from 9am – 5pm. Entry fees are RM3 for Malaysian visitors and RM15 non-Malaysian visitors.

Located opposite the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Sabah Museum can be reached via the orange public busses heading to Penampang / Donggongon for about RM1 from Kota Kinabalu.
