Ultimate Frisbee in Kota Kinabalu has moved back to the place where it all started; the rugby field in Tanjung Aru next to Kota Kinabalu International Airport’s Terminal 2.

And, if you’re looking to play ultimate frisbee while on holiday in Kota Kinabalu, or if you live in KK, then your chance of catching a game of ultimate frisbee is now even better.

Until at least the 26th of the month, Sabah ultimate frisbee will be played 3 times a week as we shake things up a bit and also play twice a week at the Tanjung Aru beach.

So, if you can and want to run after a day at the office or hard day of tours and exploring KK, and can jump and catch a flying disc at the same time, then join the ultimate frisbee players of Kota Kinabalu.

Don’t be shy, we don’t bite… unless you pretend to give us beer and then quickly whip it away before we can take it.

On 19 August comedy entertainment comes to Kota Kinabalu in the form of the Comedy Court Dinner Show hosted by Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa.

Comedy Court is a Malaysian institution that has been delighting audiences since 1996.  Allan Perera and Indi Nadarajah, Comedy Courtiers of note, are famous for having audiences in stitches with alter egos and comedic match-ups the likes of Loga & Singam, Mat & Din, the two Dato’s, KC & TC and more.

DJ Shazz is back in KK’s Blue Note on the weekend of 18 & 19 July with his stirring rhythmic intensity that elicit a soulful spiritual and inspirational vibe.

DJ Shazz, who grew up in New York, appeared at Lovezoo at The Lost Weekend, Progress in Derby, The Que Club in Birmingham and The Sub Club in Glasgow and promises Kota Kinabalu’s club scene a party to remember.

25 & 26 July

On the weekend of 25 & 26 July DJ Fine China, also known as Jonathan Ngu, is doing his thing at Blue Note at Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa.

Hailing from Perth, Australia, Dj Fine China has the ability to cut, fade and scratch with effects. Part of some of Perth’s big gigs and with appearance at famous clubs, DJ Fine China promises not to disappoint Blue Note’s punters.

Blue Note is located at Kota Kinabalu’s Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa and is open daily. Watch out for Ladies’ Night on Thursdays and Generation Y brining international class DJs to KK’s club scene on Fridays and Saturdays.

Air Supply is to visit KK in their From the Heart World Tour 2008.

To be fair, Kota Kinabalu and Sabah doesn’t see its fair share of international artist. But the landscape is changing and with KK’s permanent population and temporary tourist population growing year on year, that might all be changing.

The first flicker in the forest will happen on 23 June when Air Supply stages a concert as part of their 2008 World Tour at The Magellan Sutera Grand Ballroom at Sutera Harbour Resort.

Air Supply, as some of us may remember and the rest of probably have read, is the core of Gramah Russel and Russel Hitchcock. They’ve been together ever since 1975 when Air Supply was formed after they met in the Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Ever since they’ve been together in some or form and have produced hits and karaoke legends such
All out of Love, Making love out of nothing at all and Lost in Love. These three often-sung karaoke hits are also prime examples of exactly why a world tour of a band most popular during the 70′s and early 80′s can still be successful in Asia in 2008.

Presented by concert organisers HTC, Air Supply will be performing to the people of KK when they appear at The Magellan Sutera later this month. The Magellan Grand Ballroom at Sutera Harbour Resort is Kota Kinabalu and Sabah’s biggest indoor conference and hosting space and was thus the logical choice as venue for a concert of this magnitude.
