It’s on to the next six donuts on the menu as sabahbah.com is near completion of the most comprehensive guide of donuts available at Big Apple Donuts and Coffee in KK.
Whitnut
On the menu board they say “Peanut butter!! Why nut?”. Well, we’ll tell you why nut… because the peanut butter sticks to the roof or your mouth when inadvertently you bite into Whitnut and get peanut butter squirted all over the inside of your mouth. Our test panel agreed that even though we generally like peanut butter, Whitnut has a little too much crammed into that deceptively small looking donut. If you’re nuts about peanut butter, you’ll go ape for for this donut.
Snowy
Although Snowy is virginal in appearance, there is in fact nothing special about it. It’s a sub-Glacier coated with a very thin layer of powdered sugar that melts on your tongue and leaves behind no distinguishable taste. It’s another one of those donuts with which you should be cautious not to inhale while you have it near your mouth, lest you choke in the fine powdered sugar it’s coated with. Because it’s just another donut, we reckon there’s more interesting ones to try than this.
101 Dalmations
Full marks to 101 Dalmations for trying to be different and because of that, half of the sabahbah.com test panel thought this was a worthwhile donut. And the black sesame seeds atop a white chocolate covered donut is indeed something a little different. The taste sensation combined with a slight crunch between the teeth, makes 101 Dalmations a worthwhile try.
Choreo
The name is a combination of crushed and Oreo, hence Choreo. And that is indeed what is; a donut dipped and covered with crushed Oreo cookies. Reminiscent of other fast food outlets, which uses Oreo cookies to enhance their own products, Choreo does strike a cord amongst those who champion the cookies. A nice nibble donut, Choreo combined the decadence of a donut with the comfort of Oreo cookies.
Spicy Flossy
If you love chicken floss, you might just find your new favourite snack in the Spicy Flossy donut. It has long been known that sweet and savoury can compliment each other, and this donut is a prime example. Take the sweetness of a light donut and cover it with chicken floss. A work of art if you’re into that kind of thing. Sabahbah.com’s test panel was divided on this one, but it received a thumbs up with a 66% positive vote.
Mango Tango
Mango Tango consists of a donut ring dipped in mango-flavoured syrup, accompanied by a generous dollop of fresh cream in the hollowed-out centre. A little bit rich for the delicate palates of the sabahbah.com test panel, Mango Tango nevertheless proves popular amongst the general public, if the emptiness of the trays on the Big Apple Donut display line is anything to go by. If you’re a glutton for sweet sweet punishment with a creamy mango twist, then do give Mango Tango a whirl.
