The 2008 Borneo Safari takes place deep in the heart of the jungles of Borneo when those who love adventure and challenge takes on the most beautiful and treacherous jungle terrain in the world. The four wheel drive vehicles tackle the Sabah jungle, modified for the tracks and powered up against the challenges of Borneo, organised by the Kinabalu Four Wheel Drive Club.

The Sabah International Expo is biennial event sanctioned by the Sabah and Federal Governments. 2008 sees the biggest Sabah Internataionl Expo to do with participation from European Union member countries.

13 August 1957 was the day that the State of Malay gained independce from British rule, following historically significant bloodless negotiations.

In Malay it is known as Hari Merdeka, or Independence Day. The nation celebrates in unity and Kota Kinabalu and Sabah is no exception.

The Mt Kinabalu International Climbathon is billed as The World’s Toughest Mountain Race.

The average, casual climber will usually take 2 days and one night to climb Mt Kinabalu, the tallest peak in South East Asia towering above Borneo at 4,095 meters high. Participants in the Mt Kinabalu International Climbathon will complete the grueling 21km trail in less than 3 hours.

As one of only two courses outside of Europe, the Mt Kinabalu International Climbathon is part of the Buff Sky Runners World Series Circuit, this year for the 7th consecutive year and is considered the most challenging course on the circuit. The Buff Sky Runners Series is regulated and coordinated by the Federations for Sport at Altitude (FSA) based in Europe.

The Mt Kinabalu International Climbathon is the ultimate challenge to the spirit of human endurance and is coming to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and Borneo 23 to 24 August.

For the 8th, the Sutera Harbour 7k Sunset Charity Run will take place, starting from Sutera Harbour Resort. Having attracted near on 7,000 participants in 2007, this is one of Sabah’s biggest, casual sporting events.

Funds raised are donated to charity and this year will be no exception, with big fan fare, stalls and performances by Malaysian Celebrities, the Sutera Harbour 7k Sunset Charity Run is an event of note.
