The next Borneo International Marathon, according to Sabah Tourism, takes place on Sunday, 7 May 2017.
Sabah’s 1st ever marathon was held 1984 and was called the Daily Express Sabah Marathon back then. For the next 23 years Sabah wouldn’t see another marathon.
Then, in 2008, Sabah once more appeared on the marathon map when the Borneo International Marathon (BIM) was held for the first time, offering categories for 10km, 21km and 42km runners. It attracted 529 runners that year.
Since then the BIM as grown in size and stature and now is a notable marathon on the South East Asian marathon calendar that attracts runners from far and wide.
