HobbyCon, an annual cosplay event in Kota Kinabalu, is where all the Geeks of Borneo unite. And by geeks we mean people obsessively devoted to their hobbies, of course.
The Badminton Arena at the Likas Sport Stadium has, for the last few years, been the home HobbyCon in Kota Kinabalu. Installments of the insanely popular and ever-growing Arts, Costume and Games exhibition, attracts large numbers of youths, and youthful souls, year after year.
It’s a platform for fanatical hobbyists to come together and showcase their talents, spread their hobbies, and share their passions. Gamers, gadget aficionados, Anime fans, cosplayers and figurine fundis turn out in full force going all out to exhibit their past-times.
HobbyCon’s more noble objective is to be a platform that exhibits positive youth culture and activities from around the region. Thereby connecting locals with international experts in ACG (Anime, Comic and Game) and the related career opportunities that it may bring.
The only concrete info we have about HobbyCon 2016 so far, is the recently released teaser-logo, HobbyCon X, presumably referring to the 10th celebration of HobbyCon in Kota Kinabalu.
Below are 2 fan vids from the KK Hobbycon and, for good measure, one from an equivalent event in Spain, also called HobbyCon (the things you find when you search).
