Description
The Regatta Lepa in Semporna, Sabah is a festival of colour that pays homage to the lepa, a traditional, single-mast sailing boat used by the Bajaus of the region.
Every year during the Regatta Lepa there is crowning of the most beautiful lepa for which particpants go all out in an attempt to make the vessel the most eye-catching and unique amogst the armada inevitably taking to the waters.
Of course, human beauty is also appreciated during the Lepa Beauty Pageant when and lepa queen is crowned. The Regatta Lepa in Semporna also hosts cultural performances, fireworks display and many other activities that aid the festivities.
