Tamu Besar Kota Belud (Kota Belud’s Big Market) is the biggest, traditional, open-air market in Sabah, Borneo. An annual occurence in Kota Belud, Tamu Besar is cornucopia of smells, sights and sounds as vendors proudly set up their stalls to sell their wares during this 2-day market.
From fresh produce to traditional handicrafts and everything in between, Kota Belud’s Tamu Besar has it all.
On the fringes of Tamu Besar Kota Belud you’ll find buffalo races, a colourful parade of horses and Bajau horsemen (Cowboys of the East) and the crowing of the Ratu Sarempak, Queen of Sarempak.
If you’re going to visit one big market outside of Kota Kinabalu during your visit in Sabah, aim for the Tamu Besar Kota Belud.
