The Shan-Shui Golf & Country Club in Tawau, Sabah is a Nelson & Haworth designed, 18 hole, par 72 golf course.
During an award ceremony in 2001, Nelson & Haworth won 4 awards for this course, which is proudly trumpeted until this day and included Best Course in Asia, Best Course in Malaysia, Best Par 4 in Asia (15th hole) and Best Par 5 in Asia (5th hole).
At some point US Golf Magazine also noted the 15th hole as amongst the best 500 holes in the world, and best 250 par 4’s in the world.
Indeed, the 6,664m championship golf course is said to present golfers with an ultimate challenge as the undulating terrain dips and careens with amazing variance.
Natural surroundings provide a backdrop to the Shan-Shui Golf & Country Club’s course, and while you battle with the tricky greens, you might encounter numerous exotic birds, squirrels, monkeys and even a resident crocodile in one of the water hazards.
The top-drawer golf course is complemented by a driving range, practice greens and a Pro Shop.
Other than that, the Golf & Country Club also offers changing rooms, a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and restaurant. For multi-day golfers, there is are chalet accommodation.
