Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort’s Sunset Bar is perched on the tip of a tiny peninsula, surrounded by ocean, palms trees, close-ups of the islands, and presents perfect views of Borneo’s incredible sunsets, cocktails on hand.

Specifically designed as a prime sundowner location, Sunset Bar is open to the public everyday only from 17:00 to 20:00, provided Sabah’s weather cooperates. Coincidentally, it’s also Happy Hour at Sunset Bar during the same time.

Different styles of seating surrounds Sunset Bar – there are 2-seater padded benches facing the sunset, tables and chairs and garden beds suitable for 2 or 4,encouraging some seriously lounging around.

As Borneo’s sunset approaches, from about 17:40 – 18:30 depending on the time of the year, the Sabah skies above Sunset Bar undergoes changes that spans the entire colour spectrum.

Depending on the amount of cloud cover in Kota Kinabalu at that time, you will see spectacular violets, reds, yellows, orange, deep blues, and uncountable combinations of them all, flowing into each other and changing over the course of an hour.

To celebrate the fantastic display by Mother Nature in Borneo, you can choose from spirits, beers or cocktails, 2 for the price of one. Snacks, like the incredibly tasty chicken wings, are also on hand to make that sunset buzz last just a little longer.
