Description
The only thing hotter than proprietor Ken Wang Hing’s hot buns, ahem, is the lightning service at which he serves them and the seemingly impossible way he sees what’s going on around the shop without looking.
Ken Wang Hing, the shop named for the owner, is a successful coffee shop in Gaya Street that, in one corner, specialises in steamed buns that are available from as early as 6am when the flavour of buns fill the air.
Aside from the sweeter selection of hot, steamed buns with fillings like black bean, pineapple, coconut, peanut and the ever popular butter milk, Ken Wang Hin also has BBQ pork and other meat steamed bun, or pow as they’re also known.
On a Sunday, during the Gaya Street Market, Ken Wang Hing does swift business both for takeaway and sit-down, and his popular products can disappear in an instant. In between the staff at the coffee shop serve drinks at lightening speed, meaning that they can turn over tables in a matter of minutes.
Asok –
A must visit, Ken Wang Hing and his staff are exceptionally efficient and friendly. Not just pau buns either, the buttermilk buns are to die for. The kopi o is also nice and strong, and although I didn’t have any noodles, they were flying off the counter too, so judging by others it must also be good.

Love his buns, served fast and fresh.
