Shoney’s Dining & Bar is on Gaya street, past HSBC near Tong Hing Supermarket, where it offers a variety of familiar and interesting dishes.
SabahBah tried the beef and chicken burgers, and although the food is good, what really makes Shoney’s Dining & Bar memorable is the quick, attentive service. The reasonably priced bottles of wine also has to be mentioned.
A common KK problem – the staggered delivery of food, leaving some diners with food getting cold and the rest waiting – is also present at Shoney’s Dining & Bar, but is otherwise a worthwhile dining destination that, on average, scores well on quality, service and value.

On the 1st visit the beef burger was had. It is big and tasty, perhaps a tad too much sauce, because the meat is tasty by itself. On the next visit the chicken burger was had. Although not one for fried chicken, this burger is hands-down the best chicken burger SabahBah has had in Kota Kinabalu. The service was quick and attentive, but dishes were delivered with long gaps in between, leaving some of our group of 4 with food, and some waiting – that can be improved. Both burgers came with very few fries, but otherwise Shoney’s is a quality western dining choice.
