Description

Sabah produces it’s own milk in Kundasang at what is a unique dairy farm; Desa Dairy Farm.

About 3 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu, the Desa Dairy Farm lies against the slopes of Mt. Kinabalu above the town of Kundasang and about halfway up to the Mt. Kinabalu Golf Course and Mesilau Nature Reserve.

You can buy fresh milk at the souvenir shop (plain or chocolate), enjoy gorgeous ice-cream and yogurt made on the spot and have a look at the production facilities without having somebody explain what is going on.

At 9am you can feed the cow calves and billy goats and in the afternoon you can see how cows are milked. You can also watch the boxing of the milk on the processing line through windows in the main building.

Entrance to the farm is RM4 per person, feeding the calves with milk bottles is RM1.50 and feeding the goats with grass is RM1.

A visit to the Desa Dairy Farm is a good day out, provided you’re in for a chilled, laid-back, scenery appreciating afternoon.
