Description

Sakagura (酒蔵) Japanese Restaurant from Hokkaido is now open in Oceanus Waterfront Mall, Kota Kinabalu.

Placing itself firmly amongst the high-end Japanese restaurants in Kota Kinabalu, Sakagura sets itself apart from the competition with weekly imports of high quality ingredients direct from Japan, served in an authenticly-styled Japanese restaurant environment with service delivery to match.

Hands-on CEO & Japanese Sake Somallier, Mr. Akira Nagata, leads a staff compliment headed by no less than 3 chefs from Japan, classically trained in the art of Japanese cuisine. Together the Sakagura team creates traditional Japanese dishes to the delight of customers.

The Sakagura Japanese Restaurant menu consists of main meals like Japanese curry, Noodles and rice dishes, a selection of set menu meals, snack-size Sakagura Speciality Dishes, various sushi plates and combos, sashimi and the prized Kobe Beef Teppan Grill, made from freshly imported, 100% wagu beef.

One of the literal meanings of Sakagura is ‘wine cellar’, synonymous with Japanese rice wine sake. It is therefore no surprise that Sakagura Japanese Restaurant in Oceanus Waterfront Mall boasts an enviable selection of sake imported from Japan, with Plum Sake, Yuzu Sake and Potato Sochu being a few interesting picks among Sakagura’s sake list.

Sakagura also offers Kirin Draught’s Ichiban Shibori beer, Tiger draught beer, a few wines and a standard selection of soft drinks and juices.

It’s not cheap, but quality never is. Weekly imported ingredients, efficient service and restaurant decor true to Japan all sets the stage for a great Japanese food experience. The Japanese pancake is tasty and good value, the sushi and sashimi portions are large, and the price and quality of the Kobe wagyu beef makes you stop to saviour every second of it.
